Welcome to Bourk’s Complete Car Care, your trusted destination for professional brake service in Ottawa, ON. Our expertise in handling all types of brake systems makes us the go-to experts for ensuring your vehicle’s safety and performance.
Brakes are more than just pressing a pedal; they’re a complex system that involves various parts working together seamlessly. The various brake parts include brake pads or shoes, which press against the rotors or drums to slow your vehicle. The anti-lock braking system (ABS) helps maintain control during sudden stops, and the parking brake provides additional safety when stationary. Each part, from the brake light to the brake fluid, plays a crucial role in your vehicle’s braking efficiency.
Regular brake maintenance is essential for safety and can prevent costly repairs down the road. It ensures that every component, including brake pads, rotors, and the ABS light, functions correctly. Regular maintenance like brake fluid flushes also helps in maintaining the overall health of your brake system, ensuring that your vehicle stops effectively when you need it to.
Knowing when to service your brakes is crucial for safety and vehicle performance. Here are some key signs to watch out for:
Brake Light: If the brake light on your dashboard lights up, it’s an indicator that your brake system needs attention.
Unusual Noises: Squeaking or grinding sounds when you brake typically signal that your brake pads or shoes need to be checked.
Spongy or Soft Brake Pedal: A brake pedal that feels soft or spongy underfoot is a sign of possible air in the brake lines or problems with the master cylinder.
Vibrations During Braking: If you feel vibrations or pulsing in the brake pedal or steering wheel during braking, it could indicate warped rotors.
Vehicle Pulling to One Side: If your car pulls to one side when braking, it may suggest uneven wear of brake pads or issues with the brake fluid.
Longer Stopping Distances: A decrease in your vehicle’s braking efficiency or longer stopping distances is a critical sign that your brakes need professional attention.
At Bourk’s Complete Car Care in Ottawa, ON, our comprehensive brake service focuses on essential aspects to ensure your vehicle’s safety and performance. Here are the key services we provide:
Brake Pads and Shoe Replacement: We inspect and replace worn brake pads or shoes, which are crucial for effective stopping and overall brake performance.
Brake Rotor and Drum Servicing: Our technicians check and service brake rotors or drums, essential for smooth braking and to prevent vibrations during stops.
Brake Fluid Flushes: Regular brake fluid flushes are conducted to maintain the hydraulic strength of your braking system and prevent contamination.
ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) Checks: We ensure your ABS is functioning correctly, a critical feature for maintaining control during emergency braking.
Parking Brake Adjustments: Proper adjustment and maintenance of the parking brake are performed. We do this to ensure your vehicle remains securely stationary when parked.
Brake Light and ABS Light Inspections: If your brake light or ABS light is on, we diagnose and fix the underlying issues to keep you informed and safe on the road.
At Bourk’s Complete Car Care in Ottawa, ON, these services form the cornerstone of our commitment to keeping your brakes in top condition. You can trust us to offer top of the line brake repair in Ottawa and Kanata.
Proper maintenance can extend the life of your brakes and ensure consistent performance. Here are some tips to keep in mind:
Regular Brake Inspections: Have your brakes inspected regularly, especially if you notice any changes in performance or hear unusual noises.
Avoid Harsh Braking: Try to avoid sudden, harsh braking whenever possible. This helps to reduce wear on your brake pads and rotors.
Check Brake Fluid Levels: Keep an eye on your brake fluid level and quality. You should top up or replace fluid as needed to ensure optimal brake performance.
Mind Your Load: Be mindful of the load in your vehicle; excess weight can put additional strain on your braking system.
Listen to Your Car: Pay attention to any changes in the sound or feel of your brakes. Early detection of issues can prevent more significant problems.

My husband and I just moved from Nova Scotia and we were looking for a new garage. We saw great reviews, and when my car wouldn’t start, I called CAA and had them tow us to Bourk’s. Are we ever happy we did. The staff are extremely friendly, courteous, and quick turnaround. He took the time to explain to me exactly what they had to do. Quoted the price before hand, we picked up the vehicle today. Went over the work order took the time to answer all of my questions. This is definitely our new garage. They have not forgotten what Customer Service is all about and we appreciated everything. Keep up the great work guys

I wonder if Bob and Murtle Bourk had any idea when they launched Bourk's Ignition Ltd., back in 1937, that 89 years later today’s team would still be doing the Bourk name proud.
Currently operated by third-generation family members Gary and Bill Bourk, the auto care establishment has a glowing reputation, and in recent weeks I found out why.
It was time for my 14-year-old vehicle to have a thorough check up. A trusted mechanic who had been taking care of my year-to-year maintenance referred me to Bourk's Complete Car Care. And I’m extremely grateful that he did. The advice, service and follow up I received was second to none; courteous and efficient, friendly and professional, reasonably priced and meticulous.
I’ve always felt that a reliable vehicle is essential for peace of mind. With Bourk’s in my corner, I feel confident that my car care needs have been met for today and will always be taken care of in the future, by my news friends at Bourk’s.

Bryan and Stuart provided outstanding customer service when my car developed an issue during my commute on Carling Avenue yesterday. I stopped by without an appointment, and they had my car inspected within 15 minutes of my arrival to make sure it was still safe to drive home. Their willingness to help is greatly appreciated. Amazing service!

They were super clear, great to deal with, only did the work required and didn’t try any of that shady upsell business that’s all too common.
Offered a local uber, had strong wifi, and heck they even offered me a muffin.
Can’t recommend enough.
Great place for car service, great guys at the front desk! Fast, efficient service for a fair price and always get the car back same day!

Been going to Bourk's for years, and have always had a good experience. I trust them with the care of my vehicle, and they don't disappoint. On my most recent experience, they were able to quickly resolve an exhaust noise that clearly stumped the local Honda dealership.

I have taken my cars to Bourk's Complete Car Care in Kanata several times, and I’ve always had a great experience. I really appreciate being able to book appointments online and, after the work is completed, receiving a clear list of recommended services along with transparent pricing for each one.
Stuart and Jackson are consistently friendly and efficient during check-in, which makes the process smooth and stress-free. It’s also incredibly convenient that they offer a shuttle service if you don’t have transportation. Bruce is usually the driver, and I’m always happy to see him — he’s relaxed, personable, and a great driver.
All of the service work on my vehicles has been completed by Brennan Lorint, and I’ve never had any issues with the quality of his work. I have great confidence in the team and highly recommend Bourk’s Complete Car Care for all your automotive service needs.
Really good honest and knowledgeable people, thoroughly recommend!

I had an issue with my check engine light coming on and I was about to leave for vacation. Initially, I was going to leave my car for the week so they could check it over when they had time but they managed to squeeze me in and everything was resolved quickly before I had to leave. The guys in the shop and the gentleman driving the shuttle were all wonderful and I consider their rates to be reasonable. I will continue to be a customer as I have always had a good experience and know others who recommend this shop as well! Thank you Bourk's!
