Humble Beginnings

The Bourk's story is a refreshing tale that began in 1937, with Bob and Myrtle Bourk distributing batteries out of their basement in Belleville, Ontario. Within two short years their strong entrepreneurial spirit and hard work grew their small company into a Supertest Station locating in Smiths Falls, Ontario. By securing a service contract in 1944 with United Motors, later to be known as AC Delco, Bourk’s ignition was well on its way to expansion into Ottawa, Kingston, Cornwall, Renfrew and Hull becoming well-known in the trade as a dependable source of knowledge and personal service.

By the end of the 1940’s Bourk’s had received several major service contracts and franchises, growing into a major distribution and service centre for AC Delco products. 1951 marked the introduction of it’s second generation as Tom Bourk, a nephew of Bob and Myrtle, joined the company, and soon after acquired major shareholder status, thus becoming the President of Bourk's Ignition Limited.

It is from this point forward that the Bourk’s reputation preceded itself as success never overshadowed service. First time clients became long time clients as new car owners would choose to trust their vehicles to Bourk’s Service rather than the original dealership where they made their original purchase.

Today under the steady hands and care of third generation Gary and Bill Bourk, no detail or client concern is too small to go un noticed. A friendly handshake will greet you and be symbolic of the trusted care delivered to you by the Bourk’s staff just as it has been for over 70 years.

Clients appreciate the highly specialized skill Bourk’s offers in the diagnosis and repair of all automotive systems, including the unique abilities needed to service recreational vehicles. To keep up with advances in vehicle technology, the company invests in ongoing, state-of-the-art factory training and certification for its technicians so they remain at the forefront of the industry.
